Tel Aviv has put real work into making its beaches accessible. According to the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, its declared beaches have accessible paths from the parking areas to shaded seating, accessible toilets and changing rooms, special beach chairs for getting down to the waterline, and accessible paths toward the water when sea conditions allow. Every beach in the city’s services table is marked as accessible.
This guide lists what is available and which beaches to choose. For the full beach list, see our guide to all Tel Aviv beaches.
What accessible facilities do Tel Aviv beaches have?
The municipality’s beach services and accessibility page (Hebrew) lists these facilities at the declared beaches:
- An accessible path from the parking area to accessible shade structures
- Paved, shaded seating areas at the end of the path
- Accessible routes to the beach restaurant, toilets and changing rooms
- Two special beach chairs at each beach for getting down to the waterline, available during lifeguard hours
- Accessible paths to the water at all declared bathing beaches, depending on sea conditions
- Showers with a hand rail and extra taps at seated height and foot height, so both standing and seated users can rinse off
- An audio guidance system for blind and visually impaired visitors (see below)

Older guides say only four Tel Aviv beaches are accessible. That was true years ago; the city now lists accessible facilities at all of its declared beaches. Facilities can be out of service, so if something does not work, report it to the municipal hotline on 106.
Which accessible beach to choose
- For the calmest water: Jerusalem Beach, where breakwaters reduce the waves.
- For families: Metzitzim Beach, with shallow water and a playground.
- For space and lawns: Tel Baruch Beach, at the north end of the city.
- For hotels close by: Gordon and Frishman, in the middle of the hotel strip. See our hotels near Gordon Beach.
Help for blind and visually impaired visitors
Every declared beach has a system called Step-Hear, which gives spoken directions around the beach. According to the municipality, it works through a free phone app, or with a free remote control available to visually impaired people from the Center for the Blind.
Getting there and parking
The promenade is paved and flat for most of its length, which makes it the easiest way to move between beaches. For parking near each beach, see our Tel Aviv beach parking guide. For wider accessible travel information in Israel, Access Israel keeps a list of accessible beaches around the country.
Before you go
- The special beach chairs are available only during lifeguard hours, in the bathing season. In 2026 that season ran from 25 March to 10 October.
- Access to the water depends on sea conditions; on rough days, paths to the waterline may be closed.
- Read the Tel Aviv beach rules and learn the beach flags.
