Gordon Beach: Everything You Need to Know

Gordon Beach is the busiest stretch of the central hotel strip, at the sea end of Gordon Street. It is a lifeguarded swimming beach with 15 beach volleyball courts, a playground, outdoor gym bars and cafés on the sand, and the Gordon Pool a short walk north. The non-motorized water sports zone at its north end is where the paddleboards and kayaks launch. Come for volleyball, people-watching and a hotel on your doorstep; it is not the place for a quiet swim.

Gordon Beach is centrally located along the Tel Aviv promenade, making it easily accessible from many of the city’s main attractions, including popular hotels, restaurants, and cafes. Its proximity to the city center makes it a favorite spot for both locals and tourists.
2. Family-Friendly Atmosphere
The beach works well for families, with a wide stretch of clean sand and shallow water. There are also playgrounds and sports facilities nearby, so kids and adults both have something to do.
3. Saltwater Swimming Pool
A few minutes’ walk north of the beach, by the marina at 14 Eliezer Peri Street, is the famous Gordon Pool. It was founded in 1956, was rebuilt and reopened in 2009, and is filled with salty groundwater pumped from a well instead of ordinary tap water. Entry is paid. It is an alternative for those who want to swim in a controlled environment while still enjoying the coastal views.
4. A Mixed, Social Crowd
Gordon Beach is known for its busy, mixed crowd. It’s a hot spot for beach volleyball (the city’s map shows 15 courts here, plus a mini-football pitch) and matkot (a popular Israeli paddleball game). At the north end there is a zone for non-motorized water sports, next to the marine centre.

Gordon Beach has some of the best sunset views in Tel Aviv. The sun goes down straight into the Mediterranean, and people stay on for an evening walk, a date, or just to sit on the sand.

1. What are the operating hours for Gordon Beach?
Gordon Beach is open to the public at all hours, but lifeguards work only in the bathing season. In the 2026 bathing season, which ended on 10 October, they worked from 07:15 until 16:45 in spring and autumn, until 17:45 in June and until 18:45 in July and August. Swimming when no lifeguard is on duty is forbidden.
2. Is there an entrance fee to Gordon Beach?
No, access to Gordon Beach is free for everyone. Rentals cost the city’s fixed prices: NIS 12 for a chair or an umbrella and NIS 22 for a sunbed (NIS 5, 5 and 9 with a Digitel resident card). And make sure to guard your valuables from Gordon Beach thieves!
3. Are there facilities like showers and restrooms at Gordon Beach?
Yes, Gordon Beach is well-equipped with public restrooms, changing rooms, and outdoor showers (cold water only), making it convenient for beachgoers to freshen up after a swim. It might not be the cleanest shower room but it gets the job done! 🙂

Пляж Гордон находится в центре набережной Шломо Лахат в Тель-Авиве. Вход свободный. В купальный сезон здесь дежурят спасатели, есть площадки для пляжного волейбола, а также кафе и рестораны у самого песка. Рядом находится бассейн Гордон с морской водой.

В первую очередь это пляжный волейбол, маткот (игра с ракетками) на песке и немоторные водные виды спорта в зоне на северном краю пляжа. Рядом есть спортивные площадки, и, конечно, можно купаться и загорать.
7. Есть ли на пляже еда?
Да. На набережной у пляжа работают несколько кафе и ресторанов: от лёгких закусок до полноценных обедов.
8. Как добраться до пляжа Гордон?
Пляж находится в самом центре набережной Шломо Лахат. Сюда легко дойти пешком, доехать на велосипеде или на общественном транспорте: рядом останавливаются автобусы компании «Дан» № 4, 10 и 161. Парковок поблизости много, но они дорогие.
