Wheelchair access, dog areas, volleyball courts and water sports zones are from the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality beach list. Kids, food, social scene, surf, theft safety and quiet are my own ratings out of 5, based on my own visits. Beaches marked “not a declared beach” have no lifeguard station of their own.

How the Beach Finder Works

  • Must-haves: a Yes on wheelchair access or dogs removes every beach without them.
  • Yes on anything else adds that beach’s rating; No adds the opposite, so a quiet beach scores well if you said No to a social scene.
  • Don’t care is ignored.
  • The highest total wins, and the runner-up is the next best fit. Nordau Beach is left out of the matching because of its separate days, but you can read about it here.

Disagree with a rating? Beaches change, and I update these scores as I go. For the full picture of every beach, see the Tel Aviv beaches guide and the best beachfront hotels.

Tel Aviv Beach Finder FAQ

How does the Tel Aviv beach finder work?

Each beach has a 0 to 5 rating for kids, food, social scene, surf, volleyball, water sports, theft safety and quiet, plus yes or no for wheelchair access and a dog area. Wheelchair access and dogs are must-haves: a Yes removes beaches without them. Every other Yes adds the beach's rating, every No adds the opposite, and Don't care is ignored. The beach with the highest total wins.

Which Tel Aviv beach is best for families with kids?

Metzitzim Beach by the Port: shallow water, a playground and toddler showers. Gordon, Jerusalem Beach and Tel Baruch are good second choices.

Which Tel Aviv beaches allow dogs?

Dogs are allowed only in designated areas: south of Tel Baruch Beach, north of Hilton Beach, south of Charles Clore Beach and south of Givat Aliyah (Ajami) Beach, according to the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality.

Which Tel Aviv beach is best for surfing?

Hilton Beach is the main surf beach, with schools and board rentals. Maravi Beach in the south gets bigger waves and suits experienced surfers.

Which Tel Aviv beaches are safest from theft?

In my experience the northern beaches, Tel Baruch, Metzitzim and Nordau, have the lowest risk of petty theft, and the southern beaches from Charles Clore to the Bat Yam border have the highest. On any beach, use a locker and never leave a bag alone on the sand.

Is there a nude beach in Tel Aviv?

No. Tel Aviv has no nude beach. The closest naturist spots are Ga'ash and Shefayim, north of the city.

Is there a gender-separate beach in Tel Aviv?

Yes, Nordau Beach. In the bathing season, according to the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, it is for women only on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, and for men only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
