Three main laws govern beach drinking in Israel, and understanding them is crucial for a stress-free beach experience.

You’ll want to know that beach patrols strictly enforce these laws, especially during peak season.

If you’re caught drinking outside the permitted hours, you’ll face fines ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 NIS.

Be aware that these TLV municipal fines can add up quickly with the Iriyah, with hidden fees and Police discretion playing a role in the final amount.

We don’t plan to lecture you here about eating healthy Israeli salad with tehina dip instead of Israeli cheap hot dogs that you are buying 30 of them for 13 NIS in the local AM PM (ever wonder why it’s so cheap? it is literally clogging your arteries!). But before you start getting sloshed on the beach, consider that you will be more likely to dehydrate, and more likely to take a leak in the ocean next to some unsuspecting fellow Tel Avivian – who by the way –  may be rightfully suspicious that you are pissing away your Goldstar beer into the Mediterranean  Sea – in their proximity – and they might suspect you and forever remember you as ‘the Tel Aviv beach pisser’ – they may not know you – but they may meet you at a party in the near future – and that party will now end with you going home alone.  Instead, enjoy the sand, the sea, your friends, your company, and an apple juice.
